Sustainability will become a mandatory criteria for the licensing of football clubs in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. Based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, the holistic requirements will be developed in the coming period – taking into account ecological, economic and social aspects.

Following the pilot phase in the upcoming 2022/23 season, licensing-related auditing is to be mandatory from the 2023/24 season.

The new German Film Subsidy Act came into force on 1 January. Funding is now only granted if measures for ecological sustainability are planned and implemented in the film production (§59a). In addition, a comprehensive CO2e accounting of the entire production is mandatory.
